The codes we use i.e. (38/110) are derived from the coat's measured arm pit to armpit in inches. So if 14" is measured, we double that (38), and take off 4" to derive the chest size suited and stated. That way, you can determine the coat's width to compared to any you own, as well as matching your personal chest measurement.
The suggested chest size allows for any shirts and jumpers being worn as well. The 110 refers to the drop (in cm) from the collar seam to the hem and so, just how far down from your neck it will be to the hem, can be estimated. (The reason for mixed units is that we in the UK have retained inches as our chest size preferences, despite decimalisation in 1970s. Heights are more generic and so we bow to the continental method with this).
These guards greatcoats offer fantastic value for money, being genuine army surplus they are better quality and a fraction of the price of equivalent high street branded coats! If you have any questions about this item, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for expert friendly advice.
