JACKET/PARKA/TUNIC CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE OF GARMENT |
GREATCOAT / TRENCHCOAT / WATERPROOF CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE OF GARMENT |
Because military garment sizing and labelling varies wildly, we state the wearer's chest size and height that a garment will fit. So measure yourself and look for that size in the options available. |
How we ascertain a chest size |
Jackets/parkas etc - what does "p-p" mean? |
As these garments are usually worn with a shirt or jumper underneath, we measure each garment and take 2 inches (5cm) off to define a chest size that will comfortably fit. p-p means pit to pit - i.e. the garment is laid flat and we measure across the armpits and double that distance for full circumference. |
Greatcoats, trench coats and waterproof over-jackets |
These garments are intended to be worn over multiple under-layers and so we make a 4" allowance on top of the wearer's chest size. |

This vintage cropped wool jacket is the original iconic WWII British military battle dress design, manufactured for the Dutch army. Made of tough wool woven fabric (not knitted).
Available in limited smaller sizes, and may have buttons missing. These jackets were in some cases rescued from the production line as manufacturing closed down in the 1960s.
