Gas masks (also known as respirators) are masks, generally made from rubber, that are designed to protect the user from airborne poisons and pollutants such as mustard/chlorine gas. They are issued to military personnel as part of the NBC protective clothing. NBC stands for Nuclear/Biological/Chemical.
